A Tennessee Barn Wedding

The Barn At Highpoint Farms proved to be an amazing backdrop for this barn wedding. I would describe the August wedding as “rustic elegance”. It was a perfect blend of “laid back” and “formal” atop Signal Mountain in Tennessee.

Cute, wooden signs and vibrant summer flowers greeted guests and adorned walkways. Simple touches such as a horseshoe, a water pail, plow and a wagon wheel added an extra barn wedding touch.

This picture by Angie Gant Photography has remained an all time favorite of the venue. The cute expressions of the bride and groom make you wonder what their couch conversation was all about.

Though simple, chalkboards of all kinds were used as a way to communicate with guests. Once again, a perfect addition for a barn wedding.

The bride chose navy blue and cream as the colors to be worn by her attendants. The maid of honor, bridesmaids and junior bridesmaid each chose their own style of floor length dress. As a gift, the bride bought each lady a beautiful, cream colored shaw to coordinate with their navy blue dresses. Bouquets were fresh bundles of blue hydrangeas and white peonies – such a gorgeous combination.

As a tribute to grandparents that had passed away, their personal bibles were used in the ceremony. The Bible of the bride’s grandfather was used by the ring bearer. The Bible of the groom’s grandmother was used by the minister for the scripture reading. What a special touch this was ♥️

An hour before the wedding there was a torrential downpour of rain. The bride was literally in tears as it was too late to convert to “plan B” for inclement weather. All anyone could do was say a prayer. And behold, about 15 minutes before the ceremony started, the rain stopped and the sun began to shine. It was now sweltering with the 100 degree temperature. Sweat dropped off the forehead of the best man. I honestly thought he would pass out before the bride and groom said “I do”! Just a little suggestion – August is a very hot month for an outdoor wedding in the south.

I think it is safe to say, the flower girl had a great time! From “chatting” with the farm goats to barefoot dancing with the best man, she stayed busy!

The reception under the lights of the barn was magical. A yummy (southern) meal of fried chicken, barbecue, green beans, macaroni and cheese, potatoes, slaw and rolls was served. After the feast, friends and family of all ages danced the night away to a collection of the bride and grooms favorite songs. As the incredible evening came to a close, the happy couple exited the venue via an illuminated tunnel of sparklers.
