Recently we had a girl’s weekend in Atlanta to celebrate the sixth birthday of a very special young lady. The party of five included me, my daughter-in-law, my granddaughter, my sister-in-law and my niece. And let me just say, we had a blast!
We arrived on Friday afternoon around 2:00 pm and checked into our hotel, the Indigo Inn. It was a boutique hotel located directly across the street from the Fox Theatre on Peachtree. Everything about it was perfect – location, service/hospitality, decor and comfy beds!
We had reservations for 6:00 pm at Simon’s, a restaurant within easy walking distance of our hotel. So, after hours of primping, we headed out to dinner. Of course, for such a special occasion, each of us had to have a new outfit 😉 We were definitely an advertisement for some of our favorite brands and stores – Altard State, Kate Spade, Belk, TJ Max, Nine West.
So next up was the main attraction – Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella at the Fox Theatre! What a magical experience this was. Our seats on the first row of the First Dress Circle were awesome. They were easy to access and the view was amazing! As I looked up, I almost thought we were sitting in an open air theatre. The sky animation was surreal – twinkling stars and constellations abounded. And at last, what we had been waiting for – the main attraction. As the curtains began to rise, I thought I felt my heart flutter.
We were awestruck by the performance of Cinderella. The talent of the cast was unsurpassed. The intricacy and detail of their costumes glittered in the lights. The background scenes were beyond realistic. The music was magical. I could go on for hours., The production far exceeded our expectations!
